O'Brien Paving has been serving Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge, and surrounding areas since 1979. Founded by Gary O'Brien and carried forward by the next generation, our company has built its reputation on honest advice, high standards, and work that lasts.

Our History
O'Brien Paving was established in Kitchener in 1979 by Gary O'Brien with a simple goal: provide top-quality paving at a fair price. In the early years, much of the work was completed by hand using wheelbarrows, picks, and rakes, with a strong emphasis on hard work, craftsmanship, and personal service.
That same approach still defines the company today. Gary was later joined by his son Graeme, helping lead O'Brien Paving into the future while maintaining the values the business was built on. Over the years, the company has grown in both capability and scope, taking on everything from private driveways to large industrial parking lots and private roadways.
As customer needs expanded, so did our services. In addition to asphalt paving, we now offer concrete work, heavy landscaping, storm sewer services, and other related site work, allowing us to provide a more complete solution for residential and commercial clients.
Workmanship That Lasts
Whether we are paving a small patch, a driveway, a parking lot, or a roadway, we bring the same care and attention to every job. We use the right materials, proper construction methods, and sound engineering practices based on the needs of the project.
Many asphalt driveways have a typical lifespan of only 5 to 10 years. We expect more from our work. Our properly built driveways often last 20 to 25 years, and in some cases even longer. Our current record for the longest-lasting driveway before replacement is 36 years.
That kind of performance does not happen by accident. It comes from proper preparation, correct material thickness, good drainage planning, and refusing to cut corners. Every season we hear from repeat customers whose original driveway lasted decades and who want the same quality again.
